A social network with no company behind it.
Private like Signal. Just your friends and family. Woven from your phones — not our servers.
An antidote to the corporate social network.
The useful parts of social software — staying in touch, sharing pictures, keeping up with the people you love — without the tracking, the ads, the outrage machine, or a company in the middle owning it all.
Nettleweft keeps the good and leaves the rest.
Connect · Protect · Thrive
Three promises, woven together
No accounts, no phone number, no sign-up. Just your name and the people you choose.
Connect
A full social network — online, or off the grid.
A full-featured social network
Connect with friends, chat messaging, a photo-and-text feed from friends and groups, personal photo albums, event planning with co-hosts, private and open groups, and birthday reminders.
Connect online or offline
Connect over the internet, or directly from phone to phone over Wi-Fi with no internet at all.
A peer-to-peer mesh On the roadmap
Coming soon: a full peer-to-peer mesh network that can connect you and your friends across a music festival, a whole neighborhood, or a city — with no internet connection at all.
Protect
Encrypted like Signal. Private by design.
Secure
End-to-end encryption with the Signal Protocol — the same cryptography used by Signal — hardened against anyone who might want your data or violate your privacy.
Entirely private
No data collection. No tracking. No ads. No corporation deciding what you can say. No one quietly storing your information for future use. Only your phone, connected directly to your friend's phone.
Thrive
Built to be closed, not to keep you hooked.
Reclaim your life
Addictive engagement tactics have been removed. No likes. No follower counts. No mesmerizing content that steals hours from your day. Just posts from your friends and groups.
Designed to be closed, not to keep you hooked
No algorithm — just your posts, newest first. Nothing manipulating you or creating false bubbles. When you reach the end of new content, it tells you you're all caught up. No endless scroll keeping you scrolling all night.
Just your friends, not strangers
Your network is only visible to people you directly invite. No strangers can find you. No bots or political influencers. Your network grows organically and human-qualified. No one can buy their way into your feed.
A look inside
Calm by design
Paper-quiet, unhurried, and free of anything competing for your attention. Tap any screen to take a closer look.
The name
Why Nettleweft
Nettles defend themselves — sting anyone who grabs them carelessly. Yet spun into thread, nettle fiber has been woven into cloth for a thousand years. The weft is the thread that binds a weave together.
Protection, turned into the fabric that holds people close. That's the whole idea.
The nettle is woven.
Try it with the people you trust
Nettleweft is free, and always will be — there's nothing to pay for because there are no servers to run. It works best when a whole friend group joins together.
